BP currently holds a 20% stake in Rosneft, the Russian oil giant that plays a crucial role in fuelling the abhorrent attacks on Ukraine that are currently being carried out, and made $2.7B from the company last year.

It is clear that, despite Russia’s promise to keep civilians out of harm’s way, they are tragically failing to and there have already been innocent victims made of this needless and unjustified conflict. Missiles have been fired upon residential buildings and over a hundred thousand Ukrainian citizens have been displaced from their homes. 

If the UK is serious about supporting our European neighbour and ally, BP needs to be held responsible for their contribution to this conflict, and sever all ties with Russia and Rosneft now and in the future, to ensure that dictator Putin is not receiving any favours from this nation.

BP has already been contacted by Kwasi Kwarteng, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, who expressed his dear concerns about their business with Rosneft.

I would like this petition to be an opportunity for the general public to voice their shared concern in this situation and send BP the message that we are not on Putin’s side.
