Boycott WestJet to support displaced workers

Boycott WestJet to support displaced workers
The Issue
We are the many dedicated aviation employees who have been impacted by the recent merger between WestJet and Sunwing Airlines. While we were promised a seamless transition, the reality has been quite different. Many of us have been laid off, only to see our positions filled by new hires. This decision not only undermines the experienced workforce that has served these airlines diligently over the years, but it also sets a dangerous precedent for worker treatment in the aviation industry.
The merger, touted as a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening operations, has come at the cost of loyal employees who have invested years of hard work. In Toronto alone, numerous employees have been affected, creating a climate of uncertainty and injustice.
When we call for a boycott of WestJet, we are not only asking travellers to avoid flying with them. We are also calling on job seekers to not accept employment with WestJet. Taking these jobs only enables the company to continue sidelining experienced workers and eroding labour standards.
Boycotting WestJet until they commit to ethical employment practices is a crucial step. This includes reinstating laid-off workers, offering fair compensation, and ensuring job security and respect for all employees.
By refusing to fly with WestJet and by refusing to replace displaced workers, you're standing in solidarity with those harmed by the merger. Together, we can send a powerful message: the unethical treatment of employees will not be tolerated.
Please join us in this boycott and help make a change for the better. Sign this petition today to demand justice and fairness for all WestJet employees affected by this merger.
