The Issue

I am a resident in the Beaches, and I have personally experienced the detrimental effects of the hazardous chemicals present in cannabis sold at Medicine Wheel on Queen Street East, an unregulated black market cannabis store. My story is not unique; numerous individuals within our community have fallen ill due to the dangerous substances found in these products. By supporting such establishments, you are inadvertently endorsing criminal organizations that operate these stores and evade taxes.

Just as you wouldn't risk consuming moonshine from illicit sources when purchasing alcohol, it's crucial to recognize the risks associated with unregulated cannabis. A study conducted by Health Canada reveals that unregulated cannabis stores often peddle products contaminated with pesticides, heavy metals, banned cutting agents, and mold. The absence of proper regulation enables these stores to bypass essential safety checks mandated for legal dispensaries.

Medicine Wheel exemplifies this issue. By continuing to patronize it, we jeopardize our health and perpetuate an illegal enterprise that prioritizes profit over public safety.

It's time to take a principled stance against this unethical behavior. Let's unite in boycotting Medicine Wheel until it commits to adhering to regulatory standards that ensure the provision of safe and healthy products to its customers. Your signature on this petition can contribute significantly to protecting our community from further harm. I urge you to sign this petition today.

Illegal cannabis:
- Lacks testing and quality control, potentially containing harmful levels of contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, mold, cutting agents, and bacteria.
- Displays THC and CBD levels that may be misrepresented or unknown, posing risks to consumers.
- May be produced and sold using unsafe practices that endanger consumers' well-being.
- Can lead to accidental poisonings, emergency department visits, and hospitalizations, particularly among children, due to high THC levels.
- Exposes consumers to the risk of identity theft and financial fraud.
