City of Water Day BBQ at the Mott Haven/Port Morris Waterfront When: Saturday, July 18, 11-3pm Where: Lincoln Avenue & East 132nd Street (at the waterfront) From land and from water - join us for an afternoon of feasting, dancing, music and theater to celebrate the unlimited potential of the water that surrounds us in the South Bronx. The festivities will take place on Lincoln Avenue at the Harlem River waterfront, part of the Mott Haven-Port Morris Waterfront Plan, and will include complementary BBQ, canoeing demonstrations, the music of Los Pleneros Sin Nombre and the theatrical performance of A Cantastoria of the South Bronx. RSVP : https://www.facebook.com/events/415476555322234 Together, we are making an impact on environmental justice and the preservation of the South Bronx waterfront for the South Bronx community. As decades of asthma-inducing dumping (in the tale of two cities) shifts to real estate speculating (threatening a tale of two neighborhoods), we need all community voices at the table to insist on equality and opportunity. Join us because if you're not at the table, you're probably being served for lunch. ____ Celebrating The Haven Project For the last year, South Bronx Unite has been collaborating with New York Restoration Project in the development of The Haven Project, a transformative plan to design, fund and build a network of public open spaces along the South Bronx waterfront to improve quality of life for Mott Haven and Port Morris residents. Today, the plan was made public, and many of the sites, including the East 132nd Street Pier and the Historic Port Morris Gantries, are part of this community's vision for future access.
