The MCC today had an opportunity to stand up for our youth in Southwest Michigan and right a wrong. Unfortunately they opted to not move forward with our proposal and let down the scouting program in Southwest Michigan.

There is a meeting tomorrow at 6pm where Don Sheppard the Scout Executive will be in attendance. The message will be that financially they cannot keep camps open but we should still give money and support them in their attempt to keep their bloated executive salaries. He will justify their lack of communication and their utter failure of advancing scouting throughout the state of Michigan.

I encourage you to attend and make your voices heard. It will not get them to reopen camp but maybe it can drive change throughout the council.

I am entirely heartbroken and devastated. I fear what this will do to scouting in Southwest Michigan and statewide. All of us need to reassess what our plans are for supporting the MCC and anything more than our units moving forward.
