Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama and Ohio State square off in the second semifinal of the College Football Playoff at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Top-ranked Alabama is seeking its fourth national championship in the past six seasons. Ohio State, winner of 11 straight, is averaging 45 points a game despite losing its top two quarterbacks. The winner goes on to the National Championship game on Jan. 12 against either Oregon or Florida State. Ohio State has lost all three of its previous matchups with Alabama.

Missouri had its six-game winning streak snapped by Alabama in the SEC title game. Alabama scored the game's final 21 points in the fourth quarter to pull away with the victory. Maty Mauk completed 16 of 34 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown, but Missouri rushed for just 41 yards on 23 carries.

The Crimson Tide outlasted Auburn in a contest that set Iron Bowl records in both scoring and combined yardage. The Tigers earned 630 yards against Alabama’s conference-best defense, while Alabama totaled 539 yards. Quarterback Blake Sims completed 74 percent of his passes for 312 yards, but he threw three interceptions in addition to his four touchdowns. Amari Cooper tied his own school yardage record, amassing 224 yards and three touchdowns on 13 receptions.

11/22: Alabama 48, Western Carolina 1

Alabama scored the final 31 points after the Catamounts pulled with three early in the second quarter. The Crimson Tide held Western Carolina scoreless in the second half. Blake Sims threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 68 percent passing, but he also threw one interception. Derrick Henry rushed 12 times for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
