Bowie State University's College of Education will not allow the senior interns to walk and/or receive their degrees without passing the Praxis Content Knowledge for Teaching, also known as Praxis II. Praxis II is a state exam to become a certified teacher. This is not a university exam. We have fulfilled our requirements within the COE, outside of passing all 5 of our praxis exams. The senior interns would love to have the opportunity to experience graduating. Our only option given is to receive our degrees after our graduation term date. This means we will not have the opportunity to participate in the commencement ceremony until December 2022. 

The current cohort has worked extremely hard since August of 2021, and we would like to experience graduation day just like any other major. 

We are calling on the President of Bowie State University, the Office of Provost and the Dean of College of Education to allow interns from the previous cohort (Spring 2021-December 2021), and the current cohort to walk at graduation on May 20th, 2022 at 10 am.
