Wominjeka all you great supporters of the cause to get Boroondara Council to approve street-facing solar panels in heritage precincts.

Please boost the numbers so Council will take us seriously!  We're nearly at 300 and past experience suggests that 1,000 is a good target. Please boost it on social media and by emailing your friends. A great way to do it is to look at the comments, pick one you think is really good, click on the heart symbol under it, and it will give you an option to share it and thus the petition on Facebook and/or Twitter.

The news is that Council is to review their Heritage Policy. This will be a slow process as it has to go through a planning scheme amendment, but it gives some time to put the pressure on. I also am led to believe that there are now three Councillors who favour a change: Garry Thompson, Victor Franco, and Di Gillies. It would be a great time to start lobbying Councillors if you live in Boroondara. There is no need to lobby Councillors Thompson and Franco I think, but emails and text messages in support of the change would be good if you are in their wards. For the others, a call would be good as well as an email or sms. You can find your ward here (put your address in the blue box) and the Councillors by ward here with their contacts.

Kooyong Climate Change Alliance, Lighter Footprints and ACF Boroondara will soon be writing to Council and subsequently be requesting a meeting.

Thanks again for your support for this cause, it would seem like a no-brainer in a climate emergency!
