This weekend marked a full month since we submitted our formal request for a public inquiry to Number 10. Having still had no response beyond a two line acknowledgement, we sent a small delegation of our members to Downing Street to show that the government can't ignore us forever. We received great coverage for this and are so proud of our members and the strength they have shown to make a stand in this way.

Over the past few days we've heard the news that a cross-party group of MPs is set to begin their own inquiry into the government's response to the Covid-19 pandemic. While this can help to shine a light on what has gone wrong and what needs to be changed in advance of a potential second wave, it cannot replace a proper judge-led public inquiry which can compel key government figures to participate and demand access to important evidence.
