Not a full update, but on behalf of Nazanin, Gabriella and myself, as well as our wider families, I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Holidays this Eid Al-Fitr – ‘Eid Mubarak’ to my readers in Iran and beyond.
We also wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has lit a candle for Nazanin, or said a prayer, and for all your kindnesses these past months. When I told her on Sunday about the vigils around the world, she was deeply moved by your care, by the fact we are not alone.
It is parental bias – but the picture here is of my favourite vigil, Gabriella’s - which was a happy surprise for me when I saw it, and saw her looking so grown up. The photo is one of the rare ones where she hadn’t enthusiastically blown the candles out – the consequence of it coming so soon after her birthday. And perhaps still having that cheeky spirit.
Wherever you are this Eid, may your kindnesses be accepted.
