Pass a Sarah Everard Law: Stop police investigating themselves

Pass a Sarah Everard Law: Stop police investigating themselves
The Issue
Sarah Everard was killed by a police officer, Wayne Couzens.
Wayne Couzens was reported to the police only weeks before, for two incidents of indecent exposure. The police did not arrest him, many suggest that the police 'protected' one of their own' from a criminal offence. Not an isolated allegation.
Wayne Couzens went on to kidnap and kill Sarah Everard.
A law should be passed, blocking the police from investigating themselves. The police have vast powers which are required for ethical policing, but are easily abused by the police themselves when members of the public seek to hold the police to account.
Simply put, the police investigated themselves.
Do not let Sarah Everards death be in vain, let work together and fight for a new law blocking the police from having any participation in investigations against the police.
The IOPC has been proven inadequate.
A fully independent organisation, run by the people, for the people must be put in place to at least overlook the complaints process to ensure that the police stop abusing their powers.
