On 17 January 2009 in Hazelwood Grove, Edinburgh, Martyn Barclay was shot with one bullet to the side of the head.  Sadly Martyn died later that day. The gun used in the shooting belonged to Martyn himself.
Caroline was Martyn’s girlfriend at the time of his murder and was subsequently charged with his murder and sentenced to life inprisonment with a tarrif of 34 years requiring to serve a minimum of 20 years in prison before she can even be considered for parole.

Caroline cases was purely circumstantial there was no DNA or Forensics linking her to this crime:

• No Motive
•  She tested negative for any particles of Gun Shot Residue (GSR). Impossible if you have discharged a firearm.
• Three sets of prints on murder weapon, NONE belonging to Caroline.
• No eyewitnesses.
• No blood spatter on her that was indicitive of shooting at “point blank range.

The family paid for Caroline to sit a lie detector test where she was asked: 

1) Did you shoot Martyn Barclay? She answered NO......the test showed she was telling the TRUTH! 

2) Were you present when Martyn Barclay was shot? She answered NO......the test showed she was again telling the TRUTH!

Unfortunately these tests are admissible in Scottish Courts!!

Caroline has maintained her innocence for a decade now and will continue to fight to clear her name and get her freedom that she deserves!! She does not just want her freedom and to just walk free and away from this she wants her case looked into properly so She can clear her name as a ‘murderer’ which she is not!!  Although she will never get the last 10 years of her life back or the memories of watching her 4 beautiful children growing up she should now be given the chance of re-building her life and being with her family.....She has spent A DECADE away from them now for a crime she DID NOT commit, and she need to be out making this up to them, building a future and making new memories.

Two families were effected by this murder The Barclay’s and The Igoe’s.........everyones thoughts go out to Martyn Barclay’s family and they have a void in thier life they can never fill however the Igoe family deserve after 10 years to have thier mother/daughter/sister/aunt back in thier lives.
