Michael Gove has said that giving EU citizens the vote would be "an assault on democracy"

Michael Gove compares EU citizens in a People's Vote to extra rugby players on the team

We know that the actual assault on democracy took place when 1.7million EU citizens and thousands of Britons abroad were denied a vote in the European elections in June.

Can you chip in £10, £25 or what you can afford to support our campaign?

Micheal Gove's outburst is insulting, backward-looking and undemocratic. It also tells us something about why this government wants to deny EU citizens the vote .

The Government does not want to enfranchise EU citizens because it knows that EU citizens will not vote to support its policy on Brexit.

That is the same reason it has so far failed to abolish the 15 year rule which prevents so many British citizens in the EU from voting in General elections and referendums in the UK.

This is symptomatic of a politics that is hostile to the legitimate demands by EU citizens and Britons abroad to have a voice.

We will be make these point to journalists, MEPs, civil rights campaigners when we hold our press conference on Tuesday:

Five pledges to secure the rights of #the5million

Without your continued support we cannot continue to make an impact and win on any of the five pledges.

After the #DeniedMyVote scandal at the EU elections and Michael Gove's comments this week, we are concerned the current voting rights of EU citizens in local elections may also be under threat.

That is why we appeal to you to continue support our campaign with your donations.
