Today I am writing to ask for your support as we step up to the next stage of our campaign.

Can you chip in £20, £50,£100 or what you can afford to support our campaign?

The Supreme Court's judgement that "the effect of (prorogation) upon the fundamentals of our democracy was extreme" is a severe statement about the current situation in the UK.

We argue that these issues go well beyond Brexit.

The decision to prorogue parliament and the threat to disregard the rule of law all points to a government that is unwilling to tolerate anything that stands in its way.

We fear that once Britain is outside the EU, the same logic will lead the government to renounce the  European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR). 

Brexit is a matter for the British. But the question of whether the UK upholds fundamental democratic freedoms is a legitimate concern for the whole international community.

So today we are launching a Europe wide campaign. 

We have built a team of campaigners from across Europe. With your help we want to launch a wave of solidarity to safeguard democracy in the UK. 

The first stage of the campaign involves the launch of a new Change.org petition (see below).

This is a battle for the fundamentals of democracy in Britain. How we act now will shape the UK, Europe and the world for many years to come.
