Because of Jon Bon Jovi's Soul Foundation which focuses on “combating issues that force families and individuals into economic despair”, our campaign focuses on highlighting the economic aspects of Israel's apartheid regime. This morning an elderly woman, identified as Mahfoutha Eshteyya, 75 years of age, attempted to defend her son as Israeli soldiers were trying to kidnap him, when they violently assaulted her. The woman suffered various cuts and bruises, and was moved to a local hospital in Nablus. The soldiers also attacked and kidnapped eight Palestinian shepherds in the area, and took them to a number of detention and interrogation centers. In related news, a Palestinian shepherd was injured, and eight of his sheep were killed, after being rammed with a speeding settler's car, east of Yatta, in the southern West Bank city of Hebron. Killing of livestock and abduction of Palestinian farmers are just some of the methods the Israeli military regime uses in order to systematically impoverish the Palestinian population, under its control. We hope to illustrate to Jon and the rest of the band, the economic situation which their concert will serve to whitewash, so that they may reconsider this performance- in light of Palestinian civil society call for international solidarity- to boycott Israel.
