Place extra speed cameras on Worsley/Bolton Road, Farnworth

The Issue

Worsley/Bolton Road, stretching from Long Causeway at the top to Walkden Town Centre at the bottom is a long, straight stretch of road that is currently a 30mph zone.

While many drivers adhere to the restrictions on speed on the road, there are many daily occurrences of cars not only breaking the speed limit, but doubling it, as they accelerate aggressively away from the traffic lights at the junction with Long Causeway.

There is currently a speed camera operating on one side of the road near Walkden Town Centre which does little to curb the intentions of speeding motorists. This petition is asking for Bolton Council to put in place at least one, if not two, more static speed cameras to monitor and help prevent dangerous driving on what is a built up road which is home to many, many families.

It shouldn't take a spate of local deaths or accidents on the road before a change is made. It should take a modicum of common sense, and the sense of community which Farnworth and Kearsley has in spades. Sign the petition, send a letter to the Farnworth and Kearsley Councillors, and help to make Farnworth and Kearsley a better, safer place for the local community to raise their families in peace.
