Vote YES on the Recall of GRF President, Kathryn Freshley and Secretary, Mary Stone
Vote YES on the Recall of GRF President, Kathryn Freshley and Secretary, Mary Stone
The Issue
If you believe in the propaganda of the anti-recall voice, you would think that the only people who can lead us out of the current governance dilemma are the two being recalled, namely, Kathryn Freshley and Mary Stone.
Let us examine some facts of the GRF performance under the Current president and the Officers:
The main goal of the current GRF majority is not what is the best governance structure for the Community going forward, but rather, how to make itself even more powerful! How? By insisting that we follow the Russmore / Walnut Creek model without objective analysis, implementation plans and collaboration with our Mutual Boards.
Here is a list of the year to date extra money spending and chaos created by the current GRF majority since Nov. 2014:
Hiring of PR firm to get their images polished; Hiring of Consultants to pursue their dreams; Turn the Clubs upside down with the proposed Clubhouse Rental policy changes; Approving the budget of CH2 Renovation from $4million to $6.3 million without detailed analysis and plans; loss of Arbitration/ Lawsuit with Village Green Restaurant; More Lawsuits to follow;
Terminate contract with PCM/Associa without collaboration with Mutual Boards; publicly attack Mutual Board Members who don't agree with their approach; gatherings signatures at GRF Town hall meeting to recall three Third Board members, who are very instrumental in reducing costs, improving services and having done tremendous Jobs along with most of the other Board Members for the Community...
Can we afford to ignore the GRF majority's reckless behavior?
Where are the sources of GRF 's mighty power? It is the outdated GRF Trust!
We need to ask our Mutual Board members to revise the GRF Trust and the bylaws to prevent any continuation of the future abuses.
If you take a good look at the Board that accomplished the most and are doing its best to protect its members; it is the Third Board. It is a case that 10 of 11 directors are truly working together. Even though it was a slim majority of 6 to 5 when Jim Matson was first elected as the President. As time goes on, the members become a team who can work very well at their assigned areas of responsibilities. More impressively, they enjoy and respect each other. 10 months later, their hard team work had saved enough money for the Third residents to reduce next year's assessment of $10 (per month, per manor) plus $25 (per month, per manor) to be added to the reserve.
The experience and quality of people currently serving on the Third can rival any business Board. More importantly, their integrity is outstanding. If you check with the minority board members on how they are treated in the GRF Board, you will get a very different answer. That can help to explain the performance difference between the current GRF Board and that of the Third Mutual Board.
Recalling anybody from any Board is a very serious and painful process. Yet, sometimes it is the only effective option which the Mutual Board have over its GRF counterpart (especially in light of the GRF Trust issues). Please be very careful where and who are feeding you the information. With over $105 million annual budget, our Community have been a prime victim of wasteful spending by special interest groups over the years.
This current GRF vs Third Board comparison have shown us the critical importance of who we have to nominate and elect to the Boards and how important the Leaders behave once put in the Board.
Since we are not dealing with the subjects being recalled directly at the Board Business level, we have to rely on the governance systems doing its work. The Mutual Board members who deal with the recalling subjects know their capabilities and personality perils to the community better than the outsiders.
Be civic and respectful. Run for or assist the Board Members if you have better ideas and credentials.
Please show your support to the Board Members who have the responsibility to protect our community by signing the attached petition or by calling the toll free number attached to this email (please just do one, not both).
Thanks for your support!
