New England Mountain Bike Association
Dec 19, 2017
We just sent IMBA the following message: The New England Mountain Bike Association and the San Diego Mountain Biking Association initiated a poll on change.org in the hopes that you and the IMBA Board of Directors will stop your efforts to prevent mountain bike access in Wilderness. Though we initiated this poll only a short time ago it already has over 4,000+ riders signing on, and we will keep the poll open so that the others in the US mountain bike community can express themselves to you. As you will see, this poll represents mountain bikers from across the United States who want IMBA to do the right thing. Our community wants reasonable access to our public lands and we have unjustly been denied this access. We believe that if IMBA changes course and shows that it listens to our community of riders, we will appreciate and show our support. This is not a Republican, Democrat or Independent issue – this is a mountain bike advocacy issue. We hope that IMBA will do the right thing. Here is the text of our poll: We demand that the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) cease its opposition to HR 1349, a bill that would allow mountain biking in Wilderness areas on a case-by-case basis. We demand that IMBA retract its public comment opposing HR 1349. IMBA's opposition to this bill is contrary to their stated mission to "enhance and protect great places to ride mountain bikes." We believe that IMBA should be supporting mountain bike access and not lobbying against it.
