ZocDoc finally implemented its new business model, and with that, has banned New York patients with Medicare and Medicaid insurance plans from using its website. The reason being is that it is still illegal at the federal level for ZocDoc to charge per-appointment booking fees since they are considered kickback fees (a type of bribe). ZocDoc’s previous flat fee subscription model was in compliance with federal law but not the new model. It claims it is working to get the law changed but rather than just waiving the fees for patients with Medicare and Medicaid like it originally promised in October 2018 it decided to ban them from using the website altogether. This basically means discrimination against the elderly and people with disabilities, the two qualifying factors for Medicare coverage. Sign this petition to get authorities to investigate ZocDoc for breaking the law!
