As a concerned UK citizen, my country's dreadful past during wartime remains close to my heart. I sadly bear the legacy of ancestors who fell in the unimaginable conditions of trenches and those who were impacted by the blitz. I fervently wish for a future for my family where the UK and Europe won't be thrust into a similar situation. I am profoundly uneasy about the proposed state visit of President Donald J Trump to the UK in 2025. It is my belief that inviting the US President to the UK provides acceptance/validation of his disrespectful, uncouth and bullying behaviour towards the US citizens and the UK's allies. The UK is a nation that champions democratic values, respect and compassion. The current US administration's treatment of neighbours, long-standing allies, and its own citizens is a dire contrast to these values. Further disturbing is the risk to the safety of UK residents due to security concerns tied to a state visit and the cost. History teaches us that diplomacy is vital to prevent the outbreak of conflict. Unfortunately, the US President's lack of diplomacy has the potential to escalate tensions and threaten peace in Europe. He seems to think he is hosting a gameshow not leading the worlds most powerful country. Mr President this is not Squid Games... We need to make sure we are not inadvertently opening doors for a return to old conflicts, or worse, igniting a Third World War. We urge the King and the UK Government to consider the potential implications and defer the proposed state visit. Now is the time to make your voice heard. Please, sign and share this petition.
