The new proposal is eerily similar to the original rejected proposal. Let's preserve the Chateau Laurier, as is.
We have until December 23, 2020 to send our objections to the City. The most recent proposal for an addition to the Chateau Laurier is, not surprisingly, very similar to the first proposal that was rejected. Make your concerns known.
Consider the option of the federal government intervening to save the hotel's architecture, protecting her heritage character through purchase, establishment of firm regulations, and then re-selling or contracting management to a private firm. This is a viable option in the light of the unwilingness of the owners to protect the heritage building's "chateau" features.
