THE FACTS ARE– COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS CANNOT BE CLOSED DOWN FOR 20 YEARS OR DISASTER WILL RESULT
It’s time to face up to the reality, Australia’s coal fired power stations are ESSENTIAL to keeping the electricity Grid alive and stable.
Two graphic examples in the past week.
In Victoria, over two days, 25th and 26th June. Brown coal provided between 54% and 76% of the States electricity. While wind produced 0% and solar between 2% and 12%.
25/6/26 8.35am Vic Brown coal 53%, solar 1%, wind 0 %.
27/6/2026 7.30am. Vic Battery 5%, Brown coal 67%, gas 9%, hydro 13% solar 0%, wind 0%. Vic $275MWh
WITHOUT COAL VICTORIA WOULD HAVE BEEN BLACKED OUT.
Then in South Australia, on Sunday the 21st June, the wind stopped blowing, for four days, (a wind drought). For the first day batteries, helped fill the gap, but then went flat. Sunday afternoon prices spiked to $3,000MWh, reaching up to $20,000MWh. (Some batteries were even recharging, when the price was above $10,000MWh. The wind drought continued until the 25th. With prices in the $300 to $500MWh range, for hours on end.
WITHOUT THE INTER-CONNECTER TO VICTORIA’S COAL, SA WOULD HAVE BEEN BLACKED OUT.
THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS, IS MAINLY BEING DRIVEN, BY THE COST OF ELECTRICITY CRISIS!
These examples dramatically show that our petition: TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL THE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS AND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING IS THE ONE OPTION THAT MUST BE ADOPTED BY ALL POLITICAL PARTIES.
This includes Eraring NOW 2029, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.
Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 24/06/26 5.55.pm AEST.. Batteries 12%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 38% Brown Coal 13%, Gas 18%, Hydro 16% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 2%. 5.55pm, coming into a peak time when solar is just entering its daily 17 hour, sunshine drought and wind is pottering along (in all States, it is in single figures), with no guarantee that a wind drought, might not be around the corner.
Meanwhile our coal fired generators are the backbone of the Grid. 24/6/26 5.55pm AEST. In NSW coal is producing 65% Solar 0%, Wind 1%, Qld coal 56%, solar 0% wind 4% Vic Brown coal 53%, solar 0%, wind 2%. SA batteries 12%, gas 77%, diesel 3% solar 0%, wind 8% and Tas hydro 94%, wind 2%.

AND THE PRICES GENERATORS ARE RECEIVING VARIES WIDELY. As shown by these statistics what the generators are receiving for their Grid electricity. 22/6/26 4.55pm AESDST. In Qld the generators are receiving $43MWh. NSW is being paid $198Mwh. SA is paying $312MWh Vic is paying $188MWh and Tas is paying $112MWh.

In the current fuel crisis our petition is getting traction, we are up to 4,670 signatures, (that means 4,670 emails go out every update) let’s increase it by many more, everyone’s future depends on it.
