Petition updateBLACKOUTS WILL BE DEVASTATING! THEY MUST BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTSSUBSIDISING TRANSITION TO RENEWABLES CREATING ECONOMIC BLACKOUTS THAT WILL DE-INDUSTRALIZE AUSTRALIA

Australia is experiencing a fuel crisis triggered by the US/Iranian war, but made extremely serious by lazy, complacent, political parties, who have failed to have a vision of future security and store 90 day fuel supplies, as per an International Energy Agency Agreement.

But now, even worse Australia faces Economic Blackouts. (An economic blackout, occurs when the price of electricity becomes too expensive for the consumer to use. Domestic customers stop using their heating or cooling. Industrial customers, either reduce shifts, stop altogether or move offshore).

Economic Blackouts are being caused by the building of, unreliable, intermittent and extremely expensive. Solar and wind energy converter, factories. With the following results:

1.     The intermittency of solar and wind, is being tried to be overcome by the Federal Government, subsidising home storage batteries and industrial Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).But the Home Batteries and BESS, create no electricity of their own. Lose between 10% and 20% of what is stored as it is converted from AC to DC current on the way in and then DC to AC current on the way out. And only have a limited supply of 6-7 hours of Sunshine and on average an intermittent 8 hours of wind energy converted electricity each day, to recharge. The batteries only make a profit if the electricity going in, is cheaper than what is going out. So BESS owners have a vested in electricity prices being very high at night.

2.     In addition, East coast Australians could face a staggering $600 per year increase in their household electricity bills without major changes to the delivery of the nation’s energy transition infrastructure, new modelling has found. The think tank, Independent Policy Institute Australia has recommended the federal government hand over responsibility, for building $65 to $85 billion worth of transmission towers, poles and wires needed for a transition to green energy, to the more “agile” states and territories. Households along the east coast would pay an extra $600 a year in network charges by 2035, on average, while small businesses would pay an additional $10,000 on average, based on two modelling scenarios. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/poles-wires-add-600-network-charges-household-power-bill-david-davis-vtwvc/

3.     The efficiency of the Pumped Hydro Project, known as Snowy 2, is highly questionable. A. Because it is relying on electricity supplied by Stone Age technology weather fueled solar panels. (Which has a Sunshine drought every night of at least17 hours and with cloud and rain, some days a 24 hour drought. Then, the Medieval, weather driven technology of Wind Energy Converters, whose efficiency, the Wind Industry averages at only 8 hours a day owing to wind droughts of hours, days and even weeks. THERE COULD BE DAYS OR WEEKS WHEN SNOWY 2. PRODUCES NO ELECTRICITY. B. Further the fact that the efficiency of pumped hydro is only 80%. From every 100MWh used to pump up water, only 80MWh is gained when it is released through the turbine. Snowy 2, cannot run continuously, as it takes at least 20% more time to recharge. SO, AT LEAST 10 TO 12 HOURS A DAY SNOWY 2 WOULD BE RECHARGING. C. First costed at $2billion Is now estimated to cost $20billion. Calculated to produce 350,000MWh. WHAT PROFIT PER MWh WOULD SNOWY 2, HAVE TO MAKE TO GET ITS INFRASTRUCTURE BACK? $200 - $400MWh. WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO PUT DOWNWARD PRESSURE ON THE PRICE?

4.     Another $2 billion taxpayer-funded subsidy has been announced for Rio Tinto’s Queensland aluminium smelter, as the Albanese government doubles down on its commitment to save local manufacturing with another bailout. The rescue package marks the Government’s fourth intervention to prop up a struggling metals processor as Australian manufacturers struggle to compete internationally due to high operating costs. The federal and Queensland governments will each invest $1 billion over 10 years to support the Boyne aluminium smelter, located in Gladstone, which Rio Tinto says delivers 1000 jobs at the site and an additional 2000 indirect jobs. (Which by my calculation works out at $66,667per job) https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/rules-are-in-flux-2b-bailout-for-rio-tinto-as-labor-cites-national-sovereignty-20260325-p5wrs2.html

5. The Australian federal and Queensland state governments have jointly committed to a A$600 million support package to save Glencore's Mount Isa copper smelter and Townsville refinery. This decisive action secures a critical national asset responsible for approximately half of Australia's total copper smelting capacity while preserving hundreds of jobs in North West Queensland. The funding will be delivered over three years in instalments of up to A$200 million each.

THERE MUST BE A DAY OF RECKONING THIS SUBSIDATION OF RENEWABLES WILL END IN FAILURE.

It underlines why our petition: TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL THE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS AND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE.

This includes Eraring NOW 2029, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.

And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

OUR PETITION TO KEEP OUR COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS RUNNING. Is educating everyone of how important coal fired power stations are to keeping the Grid from crashing.

YOUR SUPPORT FOR OUR PETITION WITH DONATIONS WILL BE REPAID WITH BASELOAD ELECTRICITY FOR THE NEXT CRITICAL FIFTEEN TO TWENTY YEARS. Be it $10, $20, $50 or $100 please make a donation and keep our petition in the public eye. AND KEEP THE BLACKOUTS AT BAY. The more signatures we get the more wins will keep coming and the coal fired power stations will be kept running. Promote the petition on Change.org and share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp or Email.

KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.

Example: Eastern States 15/3/26 10.10pm AESDST.. Batteries 2%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 56% Brown Coal 16%, Gas 4%, Hydro 9% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 15%.  10.10pm a time when solar is well into its average 17 hour, sunshine drought and wind might join it (as it is doing in Tasmania, only 1% wind), in having a wind drought.

As shown by these statistics what the generators are receiving for their Grid electricity. 15/3/26 10.10pm AESDST. In Qld the generators are receiving $82.50MWh.  NSW is being paid $85.75Mwh. SA is paying $105.78MWh Vic is paying $95.69MWh and Tas is paying $96.19MWh.

Meanwhile our coal fired generators are the backbone of the Grid. 15/3/26 10.10pm AESDST. In NSW coal is producing 93% Solar 0%, Wind 3%, Qld coal 77%, solar 0% wind 13% Vic Brown coal 64%, solar 0%, wind 30%. SA batteries 0%, gas 35%, solar 0%, wind 61% and Tas hydro 99%, wind 1%.

WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.

STOP PRESS: WHAT CAN HAPPEN. South Australia 4th June 2024 9.05pm EST. Batteries 0%, Gas 97%, Diesel 3% Solar 0%, Wind 0%.

SA RENEWABLES CAPITAL OF AUSTRALIA WITH BATTERIES, SOLAR AND WIND PRODUCING NO ELECTRICITY, ZERO, NOTHING

In the current fuel crisis our petition is getting traction, we are up to 4,622 signatures, let’s increase it by many more, everyone’s future depends on it. Continue to spread the word, to all family, friends, anyone you meet, particularly discuss it with shop and business owners. Ask the question, “How do you plan to cope when the blackouts come? The possibility is too awful to contemplate.

WE MUST KEEP THOSE COAL FIRED GENERATORS GOING, TO KEEP OUR SOCIETY FROM HAVING BLACKOUTS, POWER RATIONING AND EXHORBITENT ENERGY PRICES.
