Australia’s Energy and Climate Change Minister, Chris Bowen, is quoted as saying in response to the fuel crisis facing Australia. Caused by the war in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz being blocked.
“There’s one form of energy that Vladimir Putin cannot disrupt,” he told an interviewer last week, “and that’s the flow of sun to our landmass and the flow of wind on and off our shores.” (Nick Cater The Aust 16/3/26).
Is Minister Bowen, so ignorant that he isn’t aware that solar panels (rooftop and farm) have an average 17hr sunshine drought EVERY night and with clouds and rain it’s quite common for solar panels to produce NO ELECTRICITY OVER 24HRS. And as for wind flow, it is so uncertain that the Wind Industry itself agrees that the Wind ‘fake’ turbines, (they are actually wind energy converters), on average only produce 33% or 8 hours a day of their rated capacity. And as they only convert when the wind speed is between 12km/hr and 90km/hr, when wind droughts and gales, occur sometimes lasting for hours, days and even weeks, then NO ELECTRICITY IS PRODUCED EITHER.
They would make Putin envious.
IF THE AUSTRALIAN GRID BECOMES OVER 50%, DOMINATED BY UNRELIABLES BLACKOUTS BECOME INEVITABLE.
A real life example only yesterday: Eastern States 15/3/26 10.10pm AESDST.. Batteries 2%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 56% Brown Coal 16%, Gas 4%, Hydro 9% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 15%.
10.10pm and Coal is generating 72% of all Eastern States electricity. At the same time solar is well into its average 17 hour, sunshine drought and wind might join it (as it is doing in Tasmania, only 1% wind), by experiencing a wind drought.
It underlines why our petition: TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL THE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS AND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE.
This includes Eraring NOW 2029, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.

As shown by these statistics what the generators are receiving for their Grid electricity. 15/3/26 10.10pm AESDST. In Qld the generators are receiving $82.50MWh. NSW is being paid $85.75Mwh. SA is paying $105.78MWh Vic is paying $95.69MWh and Tas is paying $96.19MWh.
Meanwhile our coal fired generators are the backbone of the Grid. 15/3/26 10.10pm AESDST.. In NSW coal is producing 93% Solar 0%, Wind 3%, Qld coal 77%, solar 0% wind 13% Vic Brown coal 64%, solar 0%, wind 30%. SA batteries 0%, gas 35%, solar 0%, wind 61% and Tas hydro 99%, wind 1%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
