The move to close all coal fired power stations makes the UK the first of the G7 nations to go entirely without coal-powered electricity, and is a symbolic step towards the country's ambition to decarbonise electricity by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2050.
The UK is not alone, as Italy plans rid itself of its last coal-fired power stations by next year, with France following suit in 2027, Canada in 2030 and Germany in 2038.
IT IS A FUTILE EXERCISE AND WILL HAVE ZERO AFFECT ON THE WORLD’S TEMPERATURE WHILE CHINA, INDIA, AND ALL AROUND THE WORLD CONTINUE TO BURN COAL AT A RECORD RATE.

Which is, (beginning with Liddell which closed in April 2023, Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in (2032 now 2028), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045). AND THAT NONE OF THESE COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS BE DEMOLISHED AFTER IT IS CLOSED, BUT BE MOTHBALLED, SO IT CAN BE RESTARTED IN THE EVENT, THAT A SHORTAGE OF ELECTRICAL GENERATION REQUIRES IT TO BE RESTARTED. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest.
May I strongly urge all business owners, large and small. CEO’s Managers, those in charge of aged care homes, and other public institutions, everyone in a position of management. Homeowners, etc. Reliable, low-cost power is essential. Blackouts are a diabolically, serious issue. Talk with your management, boards, staff about how it will affect your business.
The ACT Government claims that they are totally renewable energy powered. The ACT Government is deluding themselves and doesn’t realise how wrong they are. As all their electricity comes from the NSW Grid. It is more likely to be anywhere between 60% to 80% fossil fuels and only 20% to 30% unreliables, with the damage unreliables are doing to Rural Australia the whole project is a disaster.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 2nd October 2024 6.00pm EST. Batteries 2%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 43% Brown Coal 14%, Gas 8%, Hydro 48% Diesel 0% Solar 2%, Wind 13%. 6.00pm coming into a Peak Period, just on sunset Solar is producing 2%, another 10 minutes and it will be zero and the wind 13% could at any time drop to 3% of 4%. Or in other words solar and winds contribution is worthless and double, triple or quadruple the number of solar panels and wind turbines the result is just the same. 82% Renewables with no Sun, no Wind equals no electricity generation, guarantees blackouts
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators. Coal is producing in NSW 70% Wind 20%, Qld coal 73%, wind 2% Vic Brown coal 51%, wind 42%. SA gas 11%, Wind 59% and Tas 66% hydro, wind 34%.
