When Federal energy Minister Chris Bowen announced the Capacity Investment Scheme will be increased by 500% to deliver enough battery, wind, solar and pumped hydro generation to replace exiting coal-fired and thermal power sources. Part of the announcement was that quote, “the cost to taxpayers is being kept secret under commercial-in-confidence provisions”. Unquote.
This is utter b**lsh*t. Minister Bowen is a public servant and his number one priority is look after the interests of every Australian citizen. Particularly to make sure energy consumers have a reliable, low-cost supply of electricity 24/7.
As taxpayers and consumers, we have every right to know what the cost is going to be? Who is receiving it? And that it is fair to all other energy generators. It would come close to breaching ‘unfair trading laws’ if the Government is deliberately funding renewable generators in order to reach their renewable targets, to the disadvantage of coal and gas fired power stations and very directly all electricity consumers. The costs must be disclosed, if they can’t be then the projects must not go ahead.
Please promote our petition as widely as possible. https://www.change.org/p/blackouts-will-be-devastating-they-must-be-avoided-at-all-costs I would value it if you are able to donate $20 or $50 to promote the petition on Change.org and also promote it on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp or Email.
KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.
Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: 24 Nov 2.10pm EDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 45%, Brown Coal 19%, Gas 2%, Hydro 5% Diesel 0% Solar 17%, Wind 11% (The unreliables Solar and Wind total of 28%).
A pathetic 11% from Wind nationally. (Wonder how many birds, they have killed in the last 24hrs?) With, SA having 8% gas, 38% solar and 54% wind. Wow SA 92%, (Do they have any birds left in SA?) but on a calm dark night, that is when it’s time to start worrying.
Unreliables can be cheap for a few hours. But it is the average over 24hrs, that matters on your electricity bill.
AND FOR KEEPING THE LIGHTS ON AND EVERYTHING FUNCTIONING.
We are up to 2,532 signatures, let’s increase it by many more, everyone’s future depends on it. Continue to spread the word, to all family, friends, anyone you meet, particularly discuss it with shop and business owners. Ask the question, “How do you plan to cope when the blackouts come? Are you thinking of buying a generator? I’m having second thoughts about the portable generator, but I have gas for cooking and heating. WE MUST KEEP THOSE COAL FIRED GENERATORS GOING.
