Solar farms are a grossly inefficient way of generating electricity. This is because the fuel used to produce the electricity is Sunshine. The Sun only shines (in Winter) for a maximum of nine hours every day, sometimes not at all. This means that for fifteen hours (62%) of every day the solar Farm has NO FUEL. This leaves a black hole of fifteen hours each night with no electricity being produced). THIS MEANS A SOLAR FARM CAN NEVER PROVIDE BASE LOAD POWER 24/7 AND THIS INEFFICIENCY IS DRIVING UP OUR POWER PRICES.
As well a Solar Farm PERMANENTLY POLLUTES the land on which it is sited. And as the reclamation cost is prohibitive, the land is rendered as unusable for broadscale agricultural production.
NOTE: It is proposed to build the Wallaroo Solar Farm on approximately 391 hectares with the solar array proposed to occupy approximately 209 hectares. Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT NO CLOSED COAL FIRED POWER STATION BE DEMOLISHED AS THEY CERTAINLY WILL BE NEEDED IN THE FUTURE.
