Hello Human Family,

I hope this update finds you as well as possible! I thought you might like to see a picture of me in my favorite place, the hospital garden, in a moment of happiness. 

Unfortunately, I was recently assaulted by a staff member and DMH’s response was to sweep it under the rug. That seems to be their response to everything. They ignored critical testimony from a patient. They refused to interview key witnessed. They even substantiated a portion of my complaint but labeled it as unsubstantiated.

How long are we going to put up with ZERO consequences for state abuse against psychiatric patients?

I realize against the backdrop of what is going on in our country many of us may feel froze, like our voices go unheard. That is what Empire wants us to think. The truth is that We The People will always have the final word. 

Change starts with conversation, and that’s what this petition is doing, starting the conversation. “How are our loved ones being treated in hospitals?”, “How will we be treated if we ever have to seek inpatient care?” “Who will protect our rights?” “How do we ensure that patients are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve?” “Who will hold the state accountable if I am assaulted in a hospital?” “Who will hold the state accountable if my loved one is killed by medical neglect?” 

As we watch our rights eroding in real time, these question are more important now than ever. Please ask one person to sign this petition today, make a post and link people to it on social media and start having these conversations! Let’s raise the awareness needed to address what is happening in these hospitals! It is unacceptable and we don’t have to settle for it a moment longer!
