Thank you again for the great support for saving the Chancery and the related historic buildings on the St. Peter’s Cathedral Campus!

At 5:30 tonight, you can show your support for saving the Chancery at the Rockford City Council meeting where three speakers (Gwen LaShock, Doc Slafkosky and Dorien Peterson) are signed up to speak during Public Participation in favor of the City Council approving Landmark Status for the Chancery and the related Convent and School buildings.

We will also be sharing images this evening that show some of the devastating and non-permitted interior demolition damage to the Chancery that lead to the City issuing the Diocese a citation and stop work order.

We should learn soon when the matter will be heard by the Historic Preservation Commission and then forwarded to the City Council for final action. While the Council will not be voting tonight on the issue, tonight is a chance to let the City Council know how much this issue means to us.

We really hope and pray that the Diocese will recognize that our energy and effort to save the Chancery is really a partnership opportunity to support a positive future for the buildings while addressing the concerns of all stakeholders.
