Proposal for Birmingham's Girls' Islamic Faith School in September 2019

Proposal for Birmingham's Girls' Islamic Faith School in September 2019
The Issue
The current Al-Hijrah School in Birmingham is closing down leaving hundreds of students desperate for a new school and lots of staff without a job. Our main concern is the secondary school children. With their GCSEs around the corner in the coming two years, it's a devastating situation. Transferring to another school or even choosing to study through homeschooling can have a drastic negative effect on their studies and GCSE results.
It has already been confirmed that Al-Hijrah School cannot facilitate for the secondary school boys, therefore boys in Years 7-10 are in search for a new school.
However, the opening of a Girls' faith school has been proposed...BUT...the chances of a public girls' Islamic school opening is unpredictable. We've been promised that they will be opening a temporary school for the girls in September 2019, and their permanant site will open approximately 2 years later. Unfortunately, Birmingham City Council has given the school a possible alternative for the GCSE students. There's no need for any alternative because we have been promised this school.
We want this promise to become reality, we want:
- All pupils to be given provision to receive high-quality education with an Islamic ethos
- Primary school to be a feeder into girls/boys secondary single gender Islamic ethos school
- Girls in Year 7-11 to be kept together, particularly the current Year 10 girls and attend the same site in September 2019
So all we need and ask for is YOUR help and ONLY YOU can make a difference.
This is URGENT, so please sign this petition and forward to all your family and friends and those whom you know can make a difference to our community. If we can also request for all Al-Hijrah Students to sign this petition as well because of your voice counts.
