Our target for 5000 signatures for 2018 was met in the second week of January! Thank you for your incredible support. The petition will now be sent to Birmingham City Council and the West Midlands Mayor in the coming weeks. It will also come with supporting letters from other groups, including The Birmingham Open Spaces Forum and The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham & the Black Country. This week, the government released their 25-year Green Plan for the Environment: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/673203/25-year-environment-plan.pdf It recognises the need for urban green space (pages 76-79) but will it be backed up with action? This petition and others like it will convince decision makers that the public wants the investment now so please continue to spread the word and encourage others to sign as soon as possible before the petition deadline, at the end of February.
