Most people are not even aware of the fact that there is still a statue of mass murderer, rapist & thief Christopher Columbus in the city of Pittsburgh. The "most livable city" should be accessible and safe for everyone, and the presence of the Ode to colonialism right between Pitt and CMU's campus is absolutely abhorrent. Please take it down before the people do. It was defaced in 2017, and again in 2020 in the civil rights movement catalyzed by the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police. Instead of cleaning up the defaced Christopher Columbus statue with city funds; we would like to see the statue taken down with money allocated from the Pittsburgh Police department, as their unlawful use of tear gas on peaceful protestors in East Liberty warrants immediate defunding. Bill Peduto has steadily increased funding to the PGH Police force for years since he was elected, and now it is time to make Pittsburgh, the "most livable city", for everyone.
