New York Daily News, rethink your decision on Albor Ruiz

The Issue

In a city like New York, and with a population which is 29% Latino, It is important to have voices who can eloquently speak for those who are otherwise voiceless. One of those voices has temporarily been silenced. ALBOR RUIZ, has been informed, that due to budget cuts, his column will no longer appear on the paper, and his services are no longer needed. He has been  a columnist for the New York Daily News since 1993  and has used his column to speak about the Social Justice issues faced by Latinos and primarily inmigrants in this city, and throughout  the USA. According to NILP Report, before the 2015 cuts, Latinos made up only 6.3% of the NYDN staff. In a city with such a large population of Latinos, important voices such as that of Albor Ruiz are an asset to our communities. The NYDN has a responsability to all it's readers. Therefore, we are asking Bill Holiber, President and CEO of the NYDN to reconsider his decision. Latinos are a strong consumer base, with strong buying power, who have  supported this publication for years. We expect nothing less than the return of Albor Ruiz to the ranks of columnist at the New York Daily News.
