Plea to Bill Gates & Jeff Bezos To Help Seattle Deal With Heroin

Plea to Bill Gates & Jeff Bezos To Help Seattle Deal With Heroin
The Issue
Seattle is known for Microsoft, Amazon...heroin and homelessness. The government (county, city and local) is understaffed and overwhelmed when it comes to addressing the heroin epidemic. An addict can raise their hand holding drugs and police with sirens show up to "deal" with the issue. If that same addict raises their hand and asks for help the chances of anything happening are slim. Sure, if you have $20,000 to $60,000 to put towards rehab you can get help quick but most Seattle residents don't.
How do I know this? Well, my daughter is a heroin addict. Getting her help has been unnecessarily complicated. No, she doesn't even live in Washington but I do and I see the problem every day, every where.
Bill Gates & Jeff Bezos are two of the most admired and richest men in the world. While I commend their efforts to help those in the US and abroad, I'm frustrated they have not taken a head-on approach to helping Seattle with their heroin issues. This is their backyard too.
The Seattle area has between 12,000 & 15,000 homeless and many of them are addicts, and that's not even where the problem starts. The problem is the number of opiate/heroin users that aren't homeless yet. Our rehabilitation system can't handle the rise in heroin use. With the introduction of Fentanyl, and now Carfentanil, addiction and overdoses are and will continue to skyrocket. We, the residents of Seattle, King County and neighboring communities, need help. The state of Washington needs help.
I'm calling on people to ask Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos to use their wealth, as well as their knowledge and resources, to address this problem. These two have created betters systems that have positively effected so many lives. I believe with their financial support and business acumen Seattle could become a city that is recognized for using private people to solve a public problem.
