Nearly a year ago, we lost Madisson to intimate partner violence. Since then, we’ve fought for change so that other families don’t have to live with this kind of loss that our family is going through.
This petition calls on the federal government to require GPS electronic monitoring for high-risk offenders convicted of intimate partner violence when they are released into the community. It also calls for stronger victim notification and safety planning measures.
Too often, survivors and families are left carrying the risk while dangerous offenders are given opportunities to reoffend. We can do better.
If Maddie’s story taught us anything, it’s that warning signs matter, coercive control matters, and protecting victims must come first.
