Save Hucks
27 feb 2018
First, #SaveHucks thanks the many supporters of this petition to force Big Dogs Huge Paws, Denver CO/CEO Lindsay Condon to either transfer Hucks to another rescue or admit to euthanizing Hucks. Remember that Hucks was saved from a certain fate as a victim of the Korean dog meat trade by a group of expats who raised $4,000 to send Hucks thousands of miles to safety with a "rescue" called Big Dogs Huge Paws out of Denver CO. After less than two months in the US in the care of his Fort Worth TX foster Big Dogs Huge Paws decided to euthanize Hucks based solely on reports from the Fort Worth TX foster. Hucks' Korean foster, Joyhannah EuMay, today posted the following... "Under legal pressure Big Dogs Huge Paws admitted today to our lawyer to euthanizing Hucks on 2/17/2018. This was days after we personally offered to step in and take over if needed, and includes at least 1-2 days of rescue groups calling and asking to take over care of Hucks. We are pursuing further action and will have a website/Facebook page devoted to this cause soon. We [expat group and its fosters] believe this was unequivocally against their mission statement which says they are "dedicated to rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating unwanted giant breed dogs that have been mistreated, neglected, abused and/or abandoned." They failed Hucks, and they abused our trust in every one of their purported areas of expertise. We are also disgusted that they would pursue euthanasia when there were more qualified rescue groups asking to step in and take over care. We need time to regroup and plan our next step, but in no way are we abandoning Hucks’ cause or the cause of other dogs who might just as easily be overlooked and euthanized by this "rescue" group." It is true that Big Dogs Huge Paws CEO Lindsay Condon and alleged Fort Worth TX foster Andrea Hames received numerous offers to take Hucks, with full liability, from many rescuers and more qualified rescues BEFORE they murdered Hucks. It is apparent by their actions with regard to Hucks that Big Dogs Huge Paws et al is not equipped to handle traumatized dogs. Further their actions directly violated their mission as stated on their website. #SaveHucks would encourage shelters, rescuers and animal welfare groups, both in the US and in other countries, to rethink any decision to send dogs to Big Dogs Huge Paws in the future and to continue to protest Hucks' murder. To Hucks, rest in peace sweet baby. We are sorry you did not get to live the life you deserved. We tried so hard to save you. You touched our hearts and we will not forget you.
