Join us: Tweet today! A new report by research firm Packaged Facts confirms that more consumers, concerned for their health and for animals, are ditching dairy in favor of plant-based milks. The report also states what COK has been emphasizing: that this plant-based popularity is what has the dairy industry desperately trying to stop plant-based milks from being labeled “milk.” Join us TODAY: Tweet to the National Milk Producers Federation (@NMPF) and ask it truly make it easier for consumers to choose at the grocery store by clearly labeling its OWN products as “cow milk.” Use our sample tweet below! According to Packaged Facts, “Per capita consumption of fluid milk beverages decreased by close to 22% from 2000 to 2016. Through the same period, consumption of non-dairy plant-based milk alternatives has increased by triple digits.” As the dairy industry cries over spilled milk by “challenging the very notion that the plant-based beverages can even be called milks,” Packaged Facts points out that “[f]ederal courts have ruled against the efforts to stop plant-based dairy alternatives from being called milk since any reasonable consumer understands that there is no dairy element in plant-based milks and is, indeed, purchasing them for that reason.” We couldn’t agree more! Join us in tweeting @NMPF that consumers are clearly demanding dairy-free, and the real way it can eliminate any “confusion” is by labeling its own products as what they are: milk made by cows, for cows. Use our sample tweet below TODAY! SAMPLE TWEET: Consumers are clearly choosing dairy-free! @NMPF, make it easier by labeling your own products: Cow Milk. http://bit.ly/LabelCowMilk
