Benito es una jirafa macho de 3 años recientemente adquirida por el gobierno de Chihuahua. Vive en Parque central, Ciudad Juárez y carece de todo tipo de infraestructura adecuada para brindarle calidad de vida y resguardo apropiado. 

En esta ciudad, el clima es extremo y pasa de un calor seco de más de 40 grados C, hasta memos 10 grados C. En temporada de frío, con granizo y heladas que han alcanzado hasta -20 grados C.

Benito comienza a presentar estereotipias originadas por la falta del manejo correcto que incluye enriquecimiento ambiental. (Actividades aplicadas y orientadas a cada especie que se mantiene en cautiverio para garantizar un desarrollo y desenvolvimiento correcto para su salud mental y fisiológica).

A pesar de las múltiples peticiones de los ciudadanos para que las autoridades y responsables de Benito le ofrezcan una calidad de vida digna, estas han ignorado y dado caso omiso, expresando su indiferencia y tratando a Benito como la atracción principal del parque central. 

Benito la jirafa no es una atracción ¡es un ser vivo! que merece vivir en excelentes condiciones y por el cual deben esforzarse para que tenga las atenciones y cuidados para garantizar la calidad de vida que merece. 

Haberlo adquirido comprende una responsabilidad que de manera implícita conlleva un gasto importante de mantenimiento e inversión a su habitat, mismas que sus responsables han hecho a un lado pues claramente no es su bienestar una prioridad. 

Es importante resaltar que esta especie NUESTRAS JIRAFAS se encuentran en peligro de extinción.
