Hi, all. Today would be my brother Jordan's birthday, the second
one I've had to spend without him, here. So I thought it'd be nice
to update you on "Thyroid Patients Need Better Treatment NOW,"
the petition I started in his memory. As of this writing, we have
4,706 signatures...which is great--and I thank everyone SO much
for their support! I am determined, though, to hit 5,000 before
sending it into the White House for (hopefully!) some help. So....
If there is anyone else you can think of to share the petition with,
here is the link: https://www.change.org/ThyoidBetterTreatment
If you or anyone you know would like to donate anything at all to
Change.org to have them help promote this petition (to get more
signatures), to honor Jordan on his birthday, that'd be great, as well.
I don't get a penny of this money...and I think there is a "promote"
button on the petition itself, or this update. And if you just want
to send good thoughts and/or prayers toward the petition, I'll
take that, too. All support is welcome, for sure!
If Jordan were here today, I think he'd be very proud of what we've
done, so far. He'd also be ordering a birthday pizza, making sure
there were some chocolate desserts, and probably telling some
funny stories and making us laugh! As for me...well, I don't know
how much I'll be laughing, today. I miss him a lot, and these
"special days" are harder. But on these days, I try to do something
good for someone else, because I want something positive to
come out of a day that is really tough for me.
I can't think of anything more positive than to make some more
progress on this thyroid petition, so other people hopefully won't go
through what my family has, in the future--and in memory of my
brother, Jordan, who deserved so much better. As did our mom,
me, and a lot of other thyroid folks in my family. And every other
thyroid person who wasn't diagnosed & treated the way they
should've been. Thank you for helping me try to make a difference
in all this....hoping to get to 5,000 signatures, soon!
Posting, again, my favorite picture of Jordan and me when we
were little, just because I like it. And if you have a chance today
to have a little pizza, some chocolate, or tell a funny story or
joke to someone today, please do so in Jordan's memory--
I'm sure he'd like that! :) from Jordan's sister, Starr D.
