Petition updateOla and Uber: Commit to Cabs and Autorickshaws by Women, for WomenLeading when it comes to Female Pilots. Lagging when it comes to Female Cab-drivers!

Good Morning Friends,

Here's some news!

Recently it was reported that India has the highest proportion of female commercial pilots in the world, which is 13%. The percentage of female pilots in India is two times higher than in most Western countries, including the United States and Australia. This is a clear indication that times are changing and women are venturing into workforces which are traditionally ‘male-dominated’.

If India is leading in the number of female pilots, why must it lag behind in case of female cab-drivers?

Women are more than capable of becoming commercial cab drivers as well, but all they need is proper training and guidance to empower them to break the barriers and go storming into the world of cab driving.

We all want women cab drivers to gain more foothold in the cab driving workforce, and not just in Mumbai, but possibly in all cities of India. Therefore, Ola can start a pilot project in Mumbai by training and hiring 200 women to become cab drivers and replicate the same model in other cities as well.

With New Year’s Eve around the corner lots of people, women included will be using cabs to avoid drunk driving. Any woman would feel more comfortable and safer while hiring a cab if there is an option of woman cab driver available for them. I urge you all to kindly share this petition with more and more people via social media and tag Ola in your posts and tweets. Let’s make our collective voices heard by Ola and enable 200 women in Mumbai to become cab drivers and set an example for others.

If India can fly with her, we can definitely #RideWithShe.

Thank you for your support.
