Protect and preserve families abilities to see their loved ones face-to-face in Bexar County Jail!

The Issue

Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau is cutting off families abilities to visit with their loved ones face to face at their facilities. Many places that have done so have eliminated in person visitation.  The word is that they don't care that the loss of face-to-face contact is an objectionable practice that  has many negative consequences.

Video visitation, while a step forward in technology, is a step back in regulating the industries making a profit on our counties' most vulnerable populations.

It is not and should not be the business of Bexar County to make a profit off the backs of the families of the incarcerated, nor to empower a private corporation to charge unregulated rates. We have finally made traction on telephone rates, only to see the new business of video visitation to quickly take its place.

Video visitation is not an acceptable as a replacement for in person visits. Video visitation keeps people in the cycle of poverty, and IT is not conducive to the type of family involvement that helps to curb recidivism.

They need to hear from you.
