The Westbrook Centre planning application 24/00622/FUL was considered by Cambridge City Council’s planning committee this morning. The planning committee unanimously approved the application subject to a planning obligation for “Pedestrian and cycle links to Corona Road and Lilywhite Drive and provisions towards physical access to the Fellows House site boundary with contributions towards improvements of the access through to Gilbert Rd in the event that permissive provision is agreed.”
This is a major win for our campaign and means that links to Corona Road and Lilywhite Drive will be delivered as part of the Westbrook Centre redevelopment! There is still work to be done to ensure the connection to Gilbert Road is delivered, and we will be continuing to engage with the owners of the Fellows House aparthotel to convince them to agree access.
We would like to thank everyone that has helped with our campaign. In particular, huge thanks to Anna and Josh at Camcycle for their help and support over the last year. Thanks also to Charles at Living Streets Cambridge, the many Camcycle members who provided information and advice, and everyone that signed and shared the petition or responded to the planning application. This could not have happened without you!
