It’s been quite a while since our last update and a lot has happened since - both for the world, and for us as an organization.

I wanted to update you all on the status of our petition, which 920,000+ of you signed, to protect 30% of the ocean from industrial fishing by 2030.

This goal can sometimes feel so far off from ever being achieved by 2080, let alone in the next 7 or 8 years. One recent example is that UN officials at the UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon a few months ago once again failed to reach an agreement to protect marine life as part of their “30by30” treaty. The treaty, which is aimed to “protect” 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030”, often makes no mention whatsoever of stopping the single biggest killer of the ocean in those protected areas (the fishing industry), and so even with an agreement achieved, would not have “protected” much anyway… *sigh*

I believe the world will only change for the better when we have the humility to individually take responsibility to live lives in harmony with love and truth. We can personally be part of that beautiful transformation from destructive and cruel systems to a compassionate and regenerative one. Most of the time, it means just stepping back and allowing nature to heal; sometimes, it needs direct intervention to help things along. Diet change, advocacy, and other efforts can be a big part of that personally. Still, petitions can help us reach the ears of the government and ask them to put measures in place to safeguard areas of the natural world from destruction and extinction before it’s too late.

Incredibly, so many of you have signed this petition, and I share my deep gratitude to each one of you. However, many of you have reached out on social media and asked what you can do to help, and for those willing, I have two things I wish to share:

One: Consider resharing this petition in any way you can, either directly to your friends or share it on your social media. We are SO close to our goal of 1 Million, which will increase our momentum for change and help us present it to new Prime Ministers and Presidents.
