We want to thank the Bermuda Department of Planning for supporting our group’s objection to create residential lots on the former Riddell’s Bay Golf course. We encourage the Minister to support the Board’s decision to NOT set a dangerous precedent. Bermuda has a limited amount of protected land that is zoned Recreation and the Applicant should not be permitted to convert 20 acres to Residential 2 from Recreation zoning.
Our Reference: S0020/19 December 09, 2019
Applicant: Castile Holdings Ltd.
Location::Former Riddell’s Bay Golf and Country Club, Lots A, A1 and 26 Riddell’s Bay Road, Warwick
The above application, received on 07/10/2019, was considered by the Development Applications Board.
On 12/04/2019, the DAB resolved to refuse the application for the following reasons:
The proposed subdivision to create residential lots in a Recreational zone fails to conform to Policies SDV.1 or SDV.3, Chapter 8 or Policies REC.3, REC.4, REC.5, REC.6 orREC.7, Chapter 19 of the Draft Bermuda Plan 2018 and, as such, the Board does not have discretion to approve this application.
We now wait to see if Castile Holdings Ltd. elects to appeal the Planning Board's decision to the Minister responsible for Planning. The time frame for filing an appeal is within 21 days of being notified of the decision. If this planning/subdivision approval, or any condition of approval is appealed, the approval is suspended until the Minister responsible for Planning determines the appeal.
Thank you for your support!!
