An email recently sent to us from an esteemed United Kingdom Journalist and Golf Travel Writer, Mr. Clive Agran:
"I am a UK-based golf journalist who was kindly invited to play Riddell's Bay as one of Press group a few years ago. It was a hugely enjoyable and memorable round and I can still recall one or two of the 'better' shots. My experience contributed significantly to what was a wonderful trip and the consequent article, I trust, will have encouraged golfers from the UK to visit the beautiful island of Bermuda."
"What is being proposed here will diminish the appeal of Bermuda significantly and you should therefore factor in the lost revenue that will follow the destruction of what was a quality golf course. I urge you to think beyond the short term and preserve the family jewels for generations to come rather than pawn them off for some illusory immediate gain".
"PLEASE keep Riddell's Bay as a glorious golf course".
Signed, Clive Agran
Anyone who has read through all the Planning documents can vividly see that the Castile Holdings planning submissions are simply a large real estate development masquerading as a conservation project.
We ask that you please send in an objection letter, if you support the preservation of recreational land and do not wish to see the 90 acre former golf course divided up for profit.
DEADLINE TO OBJECT IS FRIDAY, JULY 26th!!!
Anyone can object. There will be people who are concerned about the project for a wide variety of reasons and it is important that all those voices are heard. The more letters and signatures, the better our chances of having an impact, according to our advisors.
Objection letters need to be emailed to Acting Director, Victoria Pereira, VPereira@gov.bm; planning2@gov.bm; and to Cheryl Wright cwright@gov.bm and hard copy dropped off at the Planning Department in the Dame Lois Brown-Evans Building, 5th Floor before next Friday (July 26th). People who are overseas can send their (scanned, signed) objection via email only, if necessary. Let us know if you need assistance.
