As a Persian-speaking individual, I witness firsthand the unnecessary and artificial division caused by the term “Dari.” Dari is not a separate language; it is a regional variant of Persian. The label “Dari” was introduced in Afghanistan for political reasons—with the intention of weakening the unity of Persian-speaking communities in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. Linguistically, historically, and academically, Dari is unequivocally Persian.

This fabricated distinction not only hinders our shared cultural exchange but also complicates regional cooperation. Our identity, unity, and cultural harmony are at stake. By returning to the name “Persian,” we reaffirm our identity, promote cultural cohesion, and foster peace among our people.

We must recognize that language is more than just words; it is a core element of who we are. Acknowledging “Dari” as Persian highlights our shared cultural heritage and reinforces the pride we take in it.
