Excommunicate Ammon Bundy from the Mormon church

The Issue

LDS Church member Ammon Bundy has joined with others to seize government owned buildings in Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns, Oregon.  In a recent YouTube Video, Ammon stated he received spiritual confirmation of his actions and position. This conduct is not in keeping with the LDS values of "obeying, honoring and sustaining the law."  Ammon has shown a pattern of dangerous behavior that poses a serious physical threat to to others. His continued membership status in the church poses a threat to the spiritual well-being of members of the LDS community he interacts with. Armed rebellion against the government and trespassing on government property constitutes a serious transgression that warrants convening a disciplinary council that has the power to issue verdicts up to and including excommunication. Ammon has promised to stay in Oregon for as long as it takes to achieve his goals, which could be years. Because he has no plans to return home, we petition the president of the Bend, Oregon Stake to arrange to transfer his records to the appropriate ward as necessary and begin the disciplinary process.
