Thank you for your support of the Mornington Community Safelink by signing our petition. It has had an influence as both Council and Local MP’s are now actively supporting it too. Right now there are too specific things you can do to further help.
1. The Bay Trail has been allocated $.5m in Council’s draft Budget.
The draft Council Budget is out for community comment by April 29 – next Thursday. It actually provides “$490,000 to progress the Bay Trail construction readying necessary concept designs, approvals and advocacy”. The Safelink is Council’s Priority 1 in the Bay Trail. So what is really important right now is for you to go on line and make a submission to support this. This can be as simple as saying we support the Bay Trail initiative, well done, great work etc via https://shape.mornpen.vic.gov.au/budget-2021-2022
2. Local MP David Morris is currently conducting a survey on the community priorities for the State Budget.
The Mornington Community Safelink is on it as a potential priority. The Safelink will connect Moorooduc Station along the old Railway line into Mornington for both walking and cycling. All you need to do is move the Safelink up the priority list in the Survey. Please encourage all your members / friends to do the same . Go to https://www.davidmorris.org.au/budget-survey/
Thanks from the Mornington Community Safelink Group
