City Hall Campers Winter 2020

CAMP 210 located at City Hall downtown Bellingham continues to provide a hemisphere of community support to approximately 100 people until local government launches sanctuary for unsheltered residents.
Winter conditions place all campers at immediate risk for PNW exposure that can cause frostbite, hypothermia, and fatality. Homes Now will operate a city coordinated site, Swift Haven, to bring immediate relief to approximately 25 people.
Please continue to sound the alarm for urgent care relief measures and winter sheltering.
Whatcom County alert system for citywide warming centers and winter protocols for sheltering are nonexistent and/or ineffective leaving vulnerable stranded people in the predicament of enduring outdoor exposure during PNW winter with no access to basic needs.
Whatcom County Health Department is tasked with responding to human crisis and urgent need. Measures to fully support 210 campers have thus far been a provision of community outreach.
