Protest at City Hall

Occupants camping at City Hall are protesting current winter relief sheltering which is limited to local Lighthouse Mission Ministries (LMM) "Base Camp" coordinated to provide shelter-in-place options for unhoused residents during Covid19.
While serving many, Base Camp is not adequate to meet all needs, and most importantly, can not in actuality sustain the entirety of Whatcom County's current homeless population.
The Mayor of Bellingham and County Executive continue to engage in civic discourse to determine the best route for providing a hemisphere of cold weather relief. Discussion of pallet shelters and site locations continues while the county Homeless Strategies workgroup examines short and longterm priority. Meanwhile, campers at City Hall endure rain and temperature drops nightly with high wind and limited access to basic resources.
Please show your support by dropping off curbside donations at City Hall and contacting local city and county government to ensure our unhoused neighbors have shelter.
